AI Workforce Transformation Scholarship


The AI Workforce Transformation Scholarship supports qualified applicants whose careers have been impacted by artificial intelligence, automation, or related technological change.

Through this initiative, WashU Olin is investing in professionals building the skills needed to adapt, grow, and lead in an AI-driven business environment. Through the MS in AI for Business program, Olin equips students to integrate AI into business strategy, operations, and decision-making, preparing them for the next phase of their careers.

  • Admission Requirements

    Applicants must be admitted to the WashU Olin MS in AI for Business program and meet all associated admission requirements to be considered for the scholarship. Admission is competitive and based on a holistic review of academic ability, professional potential, and leadership qualities.

    Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution at the time of enrollment.

  • Eligibility

    The scholarship is intended for applicants who can demonstrate that their career trajectory has been meaningfully affected by AI-driven change. This may include individuals in one or more of the following circumstances:

    • Employment Displacement
      Loss of a role due to automation, AI adoption, or digital transformation
      Significant restructuring of responsibilities due to technology-driven change

    • AI-Impacted Job Market Conditions
      Prolonged difficulty securing employment in fields being reshaped by AI
      Early career professionals or recent graduates navigating evolving skill demands and shifting opportunities

    Applicants should be able to clearly articulate how AI or related technologies have influenced their career path and how they are seeking to build new skills for the future.

  • Supporting Materials Needed

    Applicants are encouraged to use the optional essay within the application to describe how AI or related
    technologies have impacted their career and professional opportunities.

    Following application submission, applicants may be invited to provide optional supporting documentation to further contextualize their experience. This information will be collected outside of the application (e.g., via email or a secure form).

    Examples of supporting documentation may include:

    • Materials related to job displacement or organizational change
    • Evidence of an extended job search or employment gap
    • Additional context that helps illustrate career transition due to AI

    Additional instructions will be shared with selected applicants as needed.

  • Review Process

    Scholarship applications will be reviewed holistically, considering both academic qualifications and the nature of the applicant’s career transition.

    Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee an award.

  • Award Details

    Recipients of the AI Workforce Transformation Scholarship will receive $10,000 in financial support to be applied toward tuition for their program of study.
